Hi friends!
Today I have something special to share with you—my first (tiny, little, very rough) attempt at animation!
But first, a couple things you might have missed:
For The Audacity, I wrote about the male gaze, the more sinister internalized male gaze, and I how I have to keep reminding myself to ignore it.
I also wrote a comic about the year ahead in the battle for reproductive freedom. This is (hopefully) a helpful breakdown of everywhere reproduction freedom will be or might be on the ballot in 2024. New Year, New Fight!
I’m teaching a new section of “Comics For People Who Can’t Draw” starting in March! The goal in this course is to learn the basics of sequential art, and how to work around your lack of drawing skills to make effective, visually-compelling comics in a style that's wholly your own. I plan for you to leave every meeting feeling inspired and empowered to start creating RIGHT NOW! This is my favorite class to teach and it’s a blast every time! Details are at the link if you’d like to join.
Okay, on to the good stuff! I’ve been interested in learning frame-by-frame animation to possibly start including some little animations in my comics, so I made this first one as an attempt to get my head around the process. Spoiler alert: it takes FOREVER! So please cherish these 19 seconds of hard-fought, frame-by-frame animation by yours truly!
Thanks, as always, for your support and stay scary out there! <3
Yes! Love this animation! (Not more than your comics though, and it's okay if you decide not to spend your precious life on animation.)
I TOTALLY love the animation! LOL!!
