Hi Friends!
Just checking in with a couple updates and links to share!
FIRST, I wrote a comic about AI art generators. Reading about the history of AI art was fascinating. More complicated is thinking about the future of AI art and how it’s likely to be created and utilized. I have lots of mixed feelings about it!
Speaking of COMICS, I’m bringing back to one-day version of my popular “Comics for People Who Can’t Draw” class on March 16 from 7-8:30pm ET. This is my very favorite class to teach because it really unlocks comics creation for people whoa re interested in comics, but feel limited by their lack of artistic skill. In the workshop, we identify main goals of comics artists and talk about the fundamentals of using art as communication. We’ll discuss ideas to work around gaps in artistic skills while still producing work that is visually compelling. We’ll also identify and practice ways you can leverage what you have to create a readable style that’s uniquely yours. I promise you will leave feeling inspired and empowered to start making comics. If this sounds like something you’d enjoy, you can enroll here!
FINALLY, I’m so excited to have a story in Norton’s new flash fiction anthology (which officially published last week), Flash Fiction America! There are so many great writers in this book, including Aimee Bender, K-Ming Chang, Bonnie Jo Campbell, Bryan Washington, Robert Scotellaro, Amber Sparks, and Luis Alberto Urrea. It’s been met with rave reviews so far! My story is a fictional imaging of what really happened to Amelia Earhart. I’m really proud of this story and honored to be included among so many of my flash writing heroes!
That’s all for now! I hope you’re enjoying a relaxing holiday weekend and looking forward to spring!
xo,
A.
